J. Ball has an extensive range of musical influences, and it's these inspirations that have shaped one of the most original and musically inventive artists in today's music industry. At the age of 15, J. Ball moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he began listening to hip-hop and rock & roll music. These new styles, mixed with his "song" oriented background, inspired unique experimentations within his songwriting and recording. Still, his musical mission was far from over. Three years later, he left the Mid-Western United States to capture and control his musical livelihood.
